How it works at the till
A plain cash sale stays quick: tap Cash, tap Exact, and complete. Three taps.
When a customer wants to split, tap each way they are paying. Each tap fills in the balance still owed, which you can change to the amount they want on that method. The screen shows what has been paid and what is left, and the sale can only be completed once the bill is covered. Cash can be more than what is owed, and the change to hand back is shown straight away. Card and store credit are always the exact amount.
Store credit, spent in part
A customer with store credit, from a return or an exchange, can spend some of it and pay the rest another way. A 300 credit against a 1,200 bill leaves 900 to pay in cash or by card, and the other credit stays on their account for next time.
Each payment is its own record
Every payment in a split is saved separately, with its method and amount. That is what makes the rest of StoreWave work properly:
- Cash-up counts cash against cash and card against card, so each can be checked on its own. There is more on shifts and cash-up.
- Refunds go back to the payment they came from, and never for more than it took in.
- The X and Z reports show takings for each payment method.
A sale is recorded all at once
The sale, the stock leaving the shelf, every payment, the loyalty points earned and any store credit spent are saved in one go. Either all of it is recorded or none of it is. If the connection drops mid-sale, the till retries, and each sale carries its own key, so a retry can never record it, or charge it, twice.
Cash rounding
In countries that have withdrawn their smallest coins, set a rounding step in settings. Only the cash part of the bill is rounded to that step, the rounding is recorded on the sale, and your sales reports account for it, so your takings still add up.
Your card terminal stays yours
StoreWave records card payments; it does not process them. You keep the terminal and the rate you already have, and there is no fee from us on any sale. There is a guide to getting a good card rate.
